In 1674 a "Women's Petition Against Coffee" a satirical rant, was published. In this rant, women claimed that coffee consumption decreased a man's sex drive and caused them to be fruitless like a desert. So a Men's Petition for coffee was then published, which stated in part: ". . . Coffee Collects and settles the Spirits, makes the erection more Vigorous, the Ejaculation more full, adds a spiritualescency to the Sperme, and renders it more firm and suitable to the Gusto of the womb, and proportionate to the ardours and expectation too, of the female Paramour." Sometimes, my job is interesting! P.S. So many random things are capitalized (yes, with an s) in that quote. It's really interesting.
