How amazing! I never knew coffee was thought to be meant
more for men than women. I believe both coffee and chocolate
were incredibly expensive back then so only the wealthy guys got
their libidos stoked.
All through my life, I have never liked coffee much
except for very rare formulations that aren't bitter.
One year, I took a conversational Spanish class that was
offered here at nights for no credit but a lot of fun. On our
last meeting, we were all supposed to bring something to eat or
drink. One of the instructors was a lady from Columbia who
brought pure Columbian coffee for us to try. I think we had
sugar but no way to stir it in so what I drank was basically
un-sweetened coffee as in black. It was excellent and I was
amazed. The stuff you find in most break rooms is just bitter
and I wouldn't touch it with a ten-foot pole but this coffee was
really good. I will say that I love the smell of coffee as long
as it hasn't burned in the bottom of the pot.
In high School, I lived in Edmond, Oklahoma which is
just Northwest of Oklahoma City. There is a big plant run by
Cane's Coffee. They not only brew coffee there but burn the
organic waste from the grinding process as fuel. If the Wind is
just right, you can smell it easily. It's coffee with a touch of
scorch like somebody had an accident while brewing a batch but
the scorch smell is just the hulls and other inedible parts of
the coffee beans.
