    do you mean that after a period of inactivity, the VPN closes the connection?  If that's the problem, there may be parameters that you set for the VPN?

    if you mean that the JXplorer connection times out independently though, I'm not sure what would cause this.  Under the bonnet, JXplorer uses the normal Sun java SSL Socket to do the work, so you might be able to find something on the java newsgroups - I'm afraid nothing occurs to me straight off.

    Of course there are the normal time outs for a particular request; these are set in the JXplorer options menu, and default to '0', which means 'whatever the directory is set for'.  If this last issue is the problem, you should be able to set your directory for longer time outs in its configuration.
