Port 465 is also LONG deprecated in favor of the submission port, aka 587+STARTTLS.

Ports 25 and 587 both work only with STARTTLS (will not work with ssl wrapper-mode).

You can encrypt traffic on port 25 just as much as on any other port.

Using STARTTLS, yes.

If your smtp-provider support encryption on port 25 that is great, and
there is no reason they should not support at least starttls on any port
that is open for sending (and receiving) mail.

But you should NEVER use port 25 for outbound SMTP AUTH, you should only/always use the submission port (587) with STARTTLS, as this is the one most likely to work/be supported, and least likely to be blocked.
