Email clients are network agnostic, so if you're having trouble sending messages (only) via t-mobile with the default android client it's much more likely a networking than a mail client issue. K9 will work fine side-by-side another mail client on your device. Of course, especially with POP, you have to remember that when you do things in a mailbox with one client that will change the mailbox state.
