Thanks for the resize hint! Works as a workaround for me too. I often, but not always, have this problem in K-9, always the latest Play Store version, on a OnePlus One.
Not only links are dead. The entire mail body does not react to taps. For example, I cannot select a word with a long tap. I also cannot resize the mail body with a double tap, but luckily I can resize it with the two-finger pinch. It seems to be a K-9 defect, because no other app has any similar problem.
