It doesn't look like you get authentication errors (at least on pulling mail) in K-9 after the initial setup, the way you do with many desktop clients. It would be nice to be able to get some type of explicit failure notice at that point, rather than the current implicit of catching that fetching isn't resulting in getting new mail (which could be caused by any number of things). That said, if, when you try to re-setup the account you get a username/pw error, then something would appear to have changed on the server side of things.
