Yes, one would think, however my settings hadn't changed from the time
they stopped working, they have been checked a dozen times now and I
have re-entered the password and re-set up the whole account in K-9
numerous times. It still refuses to send an email. I'm considering doing
a factory reset on the whole phone and starting from scratch, though
that would be unfortunate.

Either you're trying to send an encrypted password and the system
doesn't support it or...
You're sending a plain text password and the system requires
encryption or...
You just need to re-enter your password.
