This error might be caused by one of your installed apps that declares one of K-9 Mail's permissions: com.fsck.k9.permission.READ_ATTACHMENT com.fsck.k9.permission.READ_MESSAGES com.fsck.k9.permission.DELETE_MESSAGES In previous Android versions multiple apps could define a certain permission. This was (ab)used to work around the fact that a third-party app only got the permission to access K-9 Mail's messages when it was installed after K-9 Mail.
