I have checked my battery stats since the last charge and to my surprise K-9 is topping the screen usage even.. But i haven't noticed any change in my usage (it still goes for 3 days like when i just bought it and was using built-in Email app, same after the update to Android 5.0.2). Well, it was laying on the table a few days in a row, so that's why screen usage is comparably low, but still email app shouldn't be so hungry. Will have to check it regularly after charging to see what drains the battery most. But i'm on vacation now, so it won't be my regular usage anyway.

Right, I believe that the bug happens when transitioning between cellular and WiFi or the other way around. Your use case, in my opinion, would not trigger it.

Yeah, actually, i'm using it on 3G all the time. And in that
situation i don't see any problems (once it got 100 emails during
the night and only a few percents of the battery dropped). I'm not
using wifi at all, because it drains too much battery in itself.
One observation though. Yesterday i have enabled wifi to update
some big apps and K-9 showed an error with my mail server's SSL
certificate. It went away once i have disabled wifi again. So it
may have some problems (not only with battery) while switching
between cellular and wifi (one more reason for me not to use wifi:))
