I've run into this as well. If you do nothing else, they do everything get deleted. It seems to be a big in the way they're displayed. It's been that way for a while, I should have submitted a bug report but I get lazy sometimes and it only happens rarely. >PS... You can configure what folder spam messages go to in the settings. K9 has no built in spam filtering so it does not "learn" anything.
