I wouldn't expect a mobile mail client to have "learning"
capabilities. I believe that what is expected with the "spam" folder
in K-9, as with most desk/laptop mail clients, is that (in addition
to providing a way to get the spam out of your inbox) that "spam"
folder is read by your back-end mail-delivery agent (MDA), i.e.,
your pop/imap server and/or your MTA where true learning (and much
better blocking) generally takes place.

So, I would check to see if your MDA/MTA environment has learning
capabilities and see if you can get a/your server-side spam folder
processed by them.

That way the filtering/blocking will apply to all your mail on that
account not just the client you're using at the moment.
