I'm afraid I don't know what a "*nix environment" is -- or what the
"hostname" is. But I can tell you the server is pop.verizon.net and the
port for incoming is 995. I don't use this account for sending mail, so I
don't know whether I'd get a certificate error message for that, too.
I have the most recent update of K-9, and the device is a Galaxy S-4 with
Android 5.0.1 (Lollipop) OS.
