I have a similar problem, starting suddenly with the K9 5.201 update,
where I can't sync my email to my Android phone. I see the old email, but
not any of my new email.

I use Android 6.01 on a Samsung S6 Edge, and also use an imap server (but
it's not the gmail imap server).

I also use SSL/TLS, like you, on port 993. Things are very similar for me,
it seems.

I also can't configure the incoming imap server.

Also, even when I type in a password, to reconfigure the server, the
connection fails rapidly, whether the password is correct or incorrect. It
doesn't even seem to reach the imap server, to check if it's correct or
not, to try to configure it.

I **can** send email, however, from K9 email, it seems. That is configured
differently, of course. That seems different from your situation, where it
looks like you can't send email, since your smpt server auth fails.

Any ideas on what happened, or what to do?

I fiddled with power management, turning it on and off in various ways,
also with internet connection on and off, also thinking the problem might
have something to do with Doze, but none of that had any effect, likewise
with rebooting the phone. Nothing had any effect.

Any help would be much appreciated!

K9 has been working quite nicely for a long time. This problem suddenly
started with the 5.201 update, which for me suddenly came in this morning,
January 2 2016.
