Checked it. It is only for notifications about incoming messages. Not for the sync itself. But the sync process is also no more shown.
Problem: I need the notification. But I don't want to see the sync process. Telegram and WhatsApp sync really in the background and only show the messages. K9 shows me how it sync. Why?
