Thanks for the reply. Responses: 1. I don't do that. 2. I enter from the unified inbox, always. Not sure I have ever seen the "circle + number" option. 3. I am not opening from a notification, so (I think) not applicable.

This might be relevant. I don't use the Unified Inbox myself, so I can't comment on how that should behave.
