I'm a K-9 newbie, and I need to set it up so that it does *not* automatically check messages. I realize that this is counterintuitive for most people, but it's what I want. I only have one active account, Comcast; I rarely use Gmail and when I do, I check it in its own app. I manage my Comcast email on my computer, not my phone, except when I'm traveling. I don't need constant awareness of incoming email on my phone.
I'm having a hard time figuring out how to do this. I have the latest version, AFAIK, v. 5.403. In Account settings > Fetching mail, I have set "Folder poll frequency" to Never, "Poll folders" to None, and "Push folders" to None (since I don't know what that means). In a test using messages sent from the Gmail account, this *seems* to result in manual sync (from the Inbox screen; the Check email icon on the main screen or the folder list screen does nothing). Can anyone confirm that this is the right setting in the current version? Now, I know: RT*M. But the *M seems badly out of date. For instance, in https://k9mail.github.io/documentation/folders.html I find: Perhaps most confusing aspect of K-9 is the use of Classes to control the display and synchronization behavior of accounts and folders.... If you do not make any Class setting changes, K-9 will display all of your folders, but will not perform automatic synchronization on any of them, until you change the 'Email check frequency' in the Account settings. It *is* confusing, and that page doesn't clarify much, in particular because I cannot find "Email check frequency" in the Account settings at all. Avoiding automatic sync is what I want, but this reference to a nonexistent setting doesn't help. So, sorry to be a pain here, but I hope someone can confirm that I've got K-9 set up to check email manually, not automatically.
