I've heard great things about K-9 Mail for years, and finally decided to
try it instead of the stock Email app. I have a Samsung Note 8 running
Android 7.1.1. I have a Comcast email account that I'm trying to set up. I
let K-9 set up the account automatically. When I tried to check messages, I
went to the Inbox screen and it showed "Loading messages..." for 5 minutes
or so, with the circle going around and around, but nothing ever came
through. I had it set to check 2 weeks of messages, and there should be
plenty. If I tap Check mail from the Accounts list page (I only have the
Comcast account set up), nothing happens at all. It does say 104.4KB as the
size, but that doesn't seem to mean anything. I uninstalled the app and
reinstalled it, with the same result. Connectivity is not the issue; I'm
sitting next to my WiFi router.

I checked the incoming server settings, and did find something unexpected.
First of all, I thought that it would use POP3, but it used IMAP. I checked
the Comcast Website, and it seems that IMAP is now the only option. K-9 had
configured the incoming server as imap.comcast.net, but on the Comcast
Website it is listed as imap.email.comcast.net. I changed that in the
Incoming server settings, but still nothing downloads.

I also tried sending a test email, and that did work. I sent it to my Gmail
account (which I don't have set up on K-9), and in Gmail I replied to it,
i.e., to the Comcast account. K-9 does not download that reply either.

Help, please. Or should I just give up on K-9 and look for something
simpler?
