Please excuse an extreme newbie question. The settings in K-9 (v. 5.403, the first version of K-9 I've ever used) for folders are confusing to me. This may be partially because I'm new to IMAP, but I'm not even sure of that. I don't understand the meanings of "poll" and "push".
Long-pressing a folder in the folders list gives access to "Folder settings", and the settings there correspond in part (but only in part) to the information in the documentation https://k9mail.github.io/documentation/settings/folder.html. Apparently "Folder poll class" in the current version is what was formerly called "Folder sync class". So I take it that "poll" means more or less the same as "sync". But what is "Folder push class"? The only statement in the documentation is "the push class ... setting is only available for IMAP accounts." But available for what purpose? The link to "How to use K-9’s folder class system" (https://k9mail.github.io/documentation/settings/WorkingWithClasses) is broken (error 404). So, lacking documentation, can anyone tell me what "Folder push class" is? I'm only planning to have a very simple folder system, since I manage this email account on my computer primarily, but I'd still like to know what this means. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "K-9 Mail" group.
