I couldn’t say for sure, since I never had the setting work for me, but 
sounds like a lot more than just “unread message count”, yeah.

I’ve opened a bug report over at GitHub 
<https://github.com/k9mail/k-9/issues/3707>, and the devs there seem pretty 
active, so we’ll see whether anything comes of it.
