Alex:

Heya. To achieve it's remote control, Kaboodle simply uses the
open-source VNC program. So if you installed Kaboodle on your PC, and
installed "independant" VNC Servers on your target PCs, you could still
use Kaboodle to remote-desktop them.

Here's some info on the availble flavors of VNC:

If your target PC's are all Windows PC's, I'd recommend either
the UltraVNC or TightVNC one. They can be installed a standard Windows
services, and Kaboodle should still work with them correctly.

cheers,
Scott

I recently installed Kaboodle for a small home network to see how the program worked and I'm impressed with the features and remote control. Because it was fairly recently I downloaded the program I am assuming it is a fairly current version. I know this Q has probably been answered on another thread, if it has and you can point me in the right direction I'll go an look. What I want to do is be able to take remote control of another PC without having to run the Kaboodle program. I have had Kaboodle running on all the machines but kids being what kids are the shutdown rather than minimise the program. I would like to be able to run it in the background so it cant be closed down, then I can connect to any machine without any problem. Is this possible? Do I have to run Kaboodle as a service? If so what do I need to do. All home PC's run XP home and access internet through a single DSL point. if necessary I can then connect back to the PC's from work should the need arise.
Any help you can give would be appreciated.
Alex
