So I hadn't thought that it could be a driver problem. I have tried to uninstall epsonscan2; skanlite/skanpage starts up but cannot find a scanner (of course). After reinstalling epsonscan2, the bug reappears. I conclude that it is a bug caused by the epson driver. Unfortunately for me it's the only one available. Thank you for pointing me in this direction ; it's the only one I hadn't considered.
