--- Comment #66 from ✨ Audrey ✨ <[email protected]> ---
This might be outside the scope of what KDE is willing to support, but has
anyone considered if it's feasible to pursue an extension to wayland that would
let apps communicate shading? A protocol extension would allow CSD and SSD
providers to coordinate. Apps with SSD would be able to shade their client
areas. Apps with CSD would be able to shade themselves.

This feature was, at one time, supported by most KDE applications. It relied
upon X11, which won't work. And the existing MR introduces complexity that
doesn't seem justified by kwin's current maintainers. If, however, it were a
wayland protocol extension, implementable by any compositor, and natively
implemented by KDE's window primitives, would that affect the decision to mark
this RESOLVED-INTENTIONAL?

If not, then as much as we all desire the feature, we need to accept that it's
lost.
