--- Comment #31 from Dennis Schridde <[email protected]> ---
When I click the "mount" button in the systray, I would expect not to have to
wait at all in the general case. Not 1h, not 1min and not 30s. (After this
feature was reverted / disabled on NixOS, I noticed that a 4TB Btrfs partition
mounts within a few seconds. I'd like to keep it that way.)

If the system detects that there is an issue with the partition being mounted
(e.g. "not cleanly unmounted" or file system corruption), it might be nice to
get a popup notice about it, possibly even starting the check, but allowing me
to "skip" (or "cancel" mounting altogether). I'm thinking of UX similar to
Steam's "processing vulkan shaders" dialog (see e.g.
https://imgur.com/a/W10e0p4).

Or if you want to ensure a partition is thoroughly checked regularly, maybe
it's a completely separate feature -- "check storage when device connects, but
is not being mounted" -- i.e. completely separate from the "mount" button in
the systray.
