Ah! I didn't know this was needed....

After fixing my prompt, the issue is gone! Thank you!

For reference, this was my prompt, which contained no non-printing markers:
PS1='[\e[0;34m\u\e[1;36m@\e[1;36m\h\e[0;37m] \W \$ '

After removing the color sections, the glitchy behavior stopped totally; I'll
try to reassemble it with the \[ and ]\ markers later. Thanks again!
