Per comments in https://github.com/lxqt/qterminal/issues/1309
It was determined that the core issue was that system ulimits were being
reached, and that other compositors, such as wlroots-based Wayland were
effected. The folks there confirmed this is not a fault of plasmashell, so I'll
close this out.
