fwiw, a method that comes to mind;

Firefox, at least, has partial JACK support (enabled for the Arch pkg)

PipeWire is more common now, but does JACK API anyway

JACK ports have metadata properties, i.e. a text sideband,

which could be used to signal what tab etc relates to the audio port that is
sending out a signal to the output sink

(property can be official, like pretty name, or bespoke, like the falktx's
Carla graph/patchbay app uses this system to share audio graph node position
data, so the (multi-client mode external) graph representation remains synced
between instances)
