Strawberry music player also seems to have this feature if you play some local

But I don't know where is the exact code for that. I could find only code about
the system tray.

I agree also with Plasma itself implementing this and maybe that would be
easier for everybody. Maybe it can also do more, like changing the progress
color from green to yellow when paused or to red when a read error occurred.

I see now that when I pause the music payback in Strawberry, the progress bar
over the icon stops where it left, but it's still green, not being clear if
it's not moving because it's a very long song, so it moves too slow / little to
notice or because it's paused.
Though Strawberry has also an icon in the system tray that shows the paused
(II) overlay so there is clear that is paused. Or that's the system's playback
icon because of MPRIS protocol. I don't know.
