Since 6.3.2 the patch didn't need much change. I've tested this on my Sandy Bridge Gentoo box, only as far as making it build and run without issues on my particular system. Gentoo Users: See downstream at https://bugs.gentoo.org/949679 for an accompanying ebuild adding the -vulkan use flag which applies the patch. I have *not* tested whether this breaks anything on systems that *have* vulkan. Maybe someone can try it and report here.
