Bug ID: 516916
Summary: Feature Request: Have a translucent panel setting that
adjusts itself based on the content adjacent to it
Classification: Plasma
Product: plasmashell
Version First 6.6.1
Reported In:
Platform: Arch Linux
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
Severity: normal
Priority: NOR
Component: Panel

Target Milestone: 1.0
SUMMARY
I'm not quite sure how to phrase this properly, but its a thing that has always
irked me that it's not a thing.
I generally use my desktop by almost always having maximized windows. Right now
this will cause, regardless of which panel opacity setting I use, to always
look the same: either it's translucent of my desktop background (which doesn't
change) or its opaque.
What I would like is for it to adjust its colors dynamically based on what
content is actually relevant. So e.g. if I'm browsing https://bugs.kde.org,
then the panel should be mostly gray, but if i'm browsing
https://froggi.es/website/site/ then the panel should be mostly blue/yellow.
Right now I can only hack that, if I manually unmaximize all my windows and
resize them to be my total monitor size, instead of (monitor size minus panel
size) / set the panel visibility to "windows disappear behind it", but that
would mean loosing access to the content that's now under the panel.
