No. It's more like the translucent setting, but the region for translucency /
the region it chooses for the color is moved to be inwards. I attached an
example image, where I marked that region in purple. In that example image:
- the top panel would have a color combination of part gray (left side) and
part desktop background (right side)
- the right panel would have a color combination of desktop background (top
side), black (middle) and red (bottom)
- the bottom panel would be part blue (left side) and part red (right side)
- the left panel would be blue

I just find it strange that the current translucent setting never actually
reflects whats "on-screen". If I have the display completely filled with
windows, then having desktop background colors shine through just feels weird.
But very well could just be a me-thing.
