--- Comment #1 from [email protected] --- Computer - Asus ProArt Z890 OS OpenSuse Leap v. 16 new install Desktop: KDE Graphics card - Gforce RTX 4080 Resolution - initial boot: 1024x768 (no option to change) Graphics driver: OpenSuse default (open-source Nouveau driver) KVM switch - 4-Port DisplayPort KVM Switch, Single 4K 60Hz Monitor Concern: Switching from the OpenSuse computer to a windows computer and back again, using the KVM switch, caused the OpenSuse computer and monitor to lose communication. But not so, the Windows computer and the monitor. Plugging the monitor directly into the OpenSuse computer and rebooting, then removing the DP connection physically and replugging, also caused a loss of communication requiring a reboot. No loss of signal between monitor and Windows computer when plugging / unplugging / replugging monitor directly to the Windows computer. Solution: replaced the open-sourced Nouveau driver with the nVidia proprietary driver by (1) adding nvidia repository (2) sudo zypper install-new-recommends. Ensured 'nomodeset' was in the grub boot sequence. Results: no more lost signal either using KMV switch or plugging out directly from the computer. (I did not check to see the signal results once nomodeset was removed from Grub sequence while using Nouveau driver - will try to do so on a re-install this or next weekend) -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
