Kdenlive 25.12.3
A specific bug has been identified in Kdenlive where the playhead moves outside
the visible timeline area, disrupting the editing workflow. The issue causes
the automatic timeline scrolling to fail, making the playhead disappear from
view. This forces the user to restart the project or the application to
temporarily resolve it. The problem has been confirmed across multiple
versions, including the 25.12.3 release candidate, and the trigger has now been
isolated to a specific user action.
Steps to Reproduce:
Create a new project with at least two video clips placed sequentially on the
same track.
Double-click the merge line (the junction point) between these two clips to add
a default transition or effect.
Observe that immediately after this action, the playhead moves outside the
visible timeline area. The timeline view does not automatically follow or
center on the playhead's position, effectively hiding it from the editor.
Workaround:
The only current workaround is to save your work, then close and reopen either
the specific project or the entire Kdenlive application. This suggests the bug
is likely related to a corruption in the user interface state or timeline
rendering logic that is triggered specifically by adding a transition via
double-click.
