This is exactly the same regression I experience after the recent update.
Imagine my delay of having 14 SMB shares... :(

It appears that the culprit was introduced in 6.23.0?

Adding to what you said, this also happens whenever any application uses the
KFilePicker (KDialog?)

Using "smb://" or the buit in "Network" feature of Dolphin is not a solution.
Using cifs is superior in every regard.

According to Keven, it doesn't even have to be SMB mounts that cause this
delay.

Something about KIO Frameworks in 6.23.0 is "inspecting" available file
systems. It's possibly scraping the fstab and/or systemd units.

I find myself having to use PCManFM-Qt in the meantime because this regression
with 6.23.0 makes Dolphin/KDialog too annoying to work with daily.
