--- Comment #2 from S B <[email protected]> --- Its the next day. After a system crash and reboot due to screen lock, I could no longer get passed SDDM. I was not able to work out what happened other than that plasmashell and some wayland component could not start, leading to a black screen. Ended up reinstalling the OS.
