I've just tested it myself on both my cruddy laptop and main PC where I first encountered this issue. They both run Arch Linux and have plasma-desktop 6.6.3-1. Everything worked fine before 'kcmshell6 kcm_qtquicksettings', but the monitors failed in the exact same way after manually setting the Rendering Backend from Automatic to Software, so the bug appears to be unfixed. I remember being confused by the GPU with the yellow question mark that NoMoreTollRoads mentioned, but was always scared off from changing it by the big orange box that says "Don't touch these unless you know what you're doing".
