Bug ID: 519972
Summary: Find in Files does not respect active search mode
Classification: Applications
Product: kate
Version First 26.04.1
Reported In:
Platform: Arch Linux
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
Severity: minor
Priority: NOR
Component: search
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Target Milestone: ---
DESCRIPTION
When using Find in Files (Ctrl+Shift+F), the active search mode in the active
search tab (e.g. In Current Project) is not respected, and an In Current File
search is always performed to populate the tab's search results. The currently
selected mode should be used when performing this initial search.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open a search tab
2. Select a word in the part
3. Trigger Find in Files (Ctrl+Shift+F)
OBSERVED RESULT
1. Search results in the tab are populated with In Current File results
2. Must press Enter or click Search button to re-search with selected search
mode
EXPECTED RESULT
1. Selected search mode in search tab is respected
SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Operating System: Arch Linux
KDE Plasma Version: 6.6.4
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.25.0
Qt Version: 6.11.0
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
It might be a good idea to have additional shortcuts for each search mode,
instead of defaulting to the ambiguous "Find in Files", which could mean in
current project, in folder, etc.; having shortcuts/actions that trigger the
different search modes to begin with without having to pick them from the
dropdown would be useful.
