That's the version I tested with. I'm able to paste an individual file into the current folder, not have it go into a subfolder. This is in Settings -> Configure Dolphin -> View - Details - Open files and folders: I have this set to "By clicking on icon or name" Make sure you have that option, it should allow the behavior you're expecting.
