DESCRIPTION
I have a laptop connected to a KVM switch. It is configured to sleep after a
certain period of inactivity.
The external monitor is configured as the primary monitor layed out on the left
of the built-in monitor.
If the KVM switch is changed (as far the OS is concerned - the external monitor
is connected or removed) while the laptop is running, then everything works as
intended, the windows rearrange themselves, the wallpapers align as configured
and all is well.
If the computer goes to sleep while the external monitor is disconnected, and
then woken up by the switch (i.e. - the computer goes to sleep with no external
monitor and wakes up with one attached), then some attributes are lost.
In particular, the OS remembers that the external monitor is the primary one
and its resolution, but forgets the relative layout. I have to open kscreen,
move the built-in display to the right, and only then everything realigns.
It should be noted that once I do, everything is restored, including different
wallpapers for both screens and some windows positions.
This is on wayland.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Configure external monitor as primary and on the left.
2. Disconnect external monitor
3. Let computer go to sleep
4. Connect external monitor
5. Wake computer up.
OBSERVED RESULT
Built-in display is placed at the top left of the external monitor.
EXPECTED RESULT
Layout is restored
