That kind of thing can happen when you act as your own OS builder/software integrator by doing something like swapping out GNOME for Plasma without switching distros or doing a full re-install. It usually mostly works, but you'll be chasing down integration issues like this one forever. It would be super helpful if you could figure out what changed to fix this so we could document it on https://community.kde.org/Distributions/Packaging_Recommendations.
