Bug ID: 521703
Summary: Unable to rebind the Delete key to the Delete action
in System Settings
Classification: Plasma
Product: plasmashell
Version First 6.3.4
Reported In:
Platform: Debian stable
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
Severity: normal
Priority: NOR
Component: general
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
CC: [email protected]
Target Milestone: 1.0
DESCRIPTION
In Windows, I can configure Trashbin NEVER keep my deleted files. I want same
behaviour on KDE Plasma, so I changed Dolphin's shortcut to make sure the file
destroyed when I hit "Delete".
However, your desktop environment is using different shortcut - when I click a
file located in Desktop (not in Dolphin but actual desktop) and press Delete,
it goes to Trashbin which I do not want.
So I tried changing this behavior from System Settings, but I couldn't do it,
hence this bug report.
Summary
Unable to rebind the Delete key to the Delete action in System Settings >
Shortcuts > Common Actions > File
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Deselect the checkbox for both actions: Delete: Shift+Del and Move to Trash:
Del
2. In the Delete: action, click the "+ Add..." button
3. Press the Delete key
OBSERVED RESULT
The Delete key does not get assigned! regardless of pressing or retrying.
EXPECTED RESULT
The Delete key is assigned to the Delete action. And when I press Delete on
files in Desktop, it should be destroyed instead of going into trashbin.
