DESCRIPTION
I'm a Windows user trying to survive in the world of Linux. I like my graphic
buttons, they're nice and do what they're supposed to do. Until one day they
don't.
When I use the graphic shut down down button in KDE it takes quite a bit of
time to shut down. The screen turns black but the laptop is still powered on.
The keyboard lights are still shining bright and the fans spinning diligently.
When it's in this state everything is unresponsive. What I mostly do now is to
hold the power button for a while for it to get to actually shut down. I have a
friend who way more experienced in Linux than that I am. Together we've tried
the following;
- run systemd-inhibit --list see that power devil was our culprit (or so we
thought). Then do systemctl --user mask plasma-powerdevil and systemctl --user
stop plasma-powerdevil.
This actually worked.. for a few days :(
- My friend thought the session restore was maybe an issue so we disabled that
through plasma itself. Desktop session -> On login launch apps that were open
-> set to Start with empty session.
I quite liked the session restore option and disabling this also managed to do
a normal shutdown for a few times until it resurfaced again. Ideally I would
like enable this again, but it worked for a few times so I'm keeping it like
this for now.
After this my friend was out of idea's and told me to make a bug report.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Shut down laptop through the graphical shut down button in KDE
2. Wait
3. Wait longer
OBSERVED RESULT
Laptop is still on have to shut it off by pressing and holding the power button
EXPECTED RESULT
Laptop off, no lights, no spinning fans just beautiful silence.

terminal window):

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
When trying to shut down my laptop through the terminal and using shutdown now
it does work normally. But I keep forgetting that's an option.
