Bug ID: 521993
Summary: Brushtips with alpha are not at their full opacity
when using "alpha mask" mode
Classification: Applications
Product: krita
Version First nightly build (please specify the git hash!)

Target Milestone: ---
DESCRIPTION
All .gih and .png brushtips that I have tested, that have a transparent
background, do not behave as expected when using them as an "alpha mask" on a
brush. Expected behavior would be to keep 100% of the original opacity, but
instead they hover at around 40-50%. This happens with opacity & flow at 100%,
while using mouse &/or pen. It is confirmed to be reproducible by another user
below:
https://krita-artists.org/t/edit-brushtips-are-not-opaque-when-they-seemingly-should-be/185694/14
Here is the link to a few test brush tips & an initial tiny bundle where I
first noticed the error:
https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1a-b0M0cTLoLzrGoYWCmLDnJ_gQPX-_1R?usp=drive_link
This seemingly only happens for brush tips that only use black-on-alpha. If the
tip has grays or white, it will work correctly.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open the bundle and/or brushtips linked above
2. Select a black-on-alpha brushtip. It can NOT contain grays or whites.
3. Set higher spacing.
4. Draw a stroke in the scratchpad to see the low opacity.
OBSERVED RESULT
Brush tip hovers at 40-50% opacity.
EXPECTED RESULT
Brush tip properly shows the opacity that it has been created with.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
This has been tested & confirmed to appear across bundles. So far I have tested
my own brushtips, Concept & Illustration, Feni Moon's bundle, Omega Brush
Bundle, noise brushes & stamps, Neko's line brushes pack, & Awez's Acrylics.
There are more but it would take too long to list everything when it's easier
to just say it's any only-black brushtip on a transparent background.
