That fits with Dolphin waiting for the tags kioworkers coming back with the data. I'm not sure whether Dolphin should freeze when waiting for results, ideally this should not block the GUI... I notice 30 kioworkers when I open a tag folder with loads of distinct tags, that saturates the CPU. However even with 10,000 different tags, Dolphin is still responsive. These are hierarchical tags rather than top level so Dolphin doesn't need them for the Places sidebar. I don't get to see the results though, Dolphin gives a "The process for the tags protocol died unexpectedly" > Under System Settings --> File Search I have the Locations set to Index (File > names and contents) and the folder that the tagged images are in is in the > list > (it's just the default Pictures folder).
