            Bug ID: 522212
Summary: App overwrites in ~/.local/share/applications are
                    ignored
    Classification: Plasma
           Product: plasmashell
      Version First 6.7.1
       Reported In:
          Platform: Arch Linux
                OS: Linux
            Status: REPORTED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: NOR
         Component: general
          Assignee: [email protected]
          Reporter: [email protected]
                CC: [email protected]
  Target Milestone: 1.0

DESCRIPTION
I have changed the icons of a few apps (I'll be using Discord as an example
here), but the changed icon and lauch parameters are not used at all.

HOWEVER, the launch feedback *is* the new icon. Nothing else is though.

Furthermore, the KDE menu editor doesn't recognize the changes either.
Making changes with the editor and saving it results in the changes I want
(different icon, launch parameters) in ~/.local/share/applications, however
restarting the editor and editing the same application again shows no changes
at all. The desktop file is still changed, it still has the edits I want, but
they're just completely ignored.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Copy a .desktop file from /usr/share/applications/ to
~/.local/share/applications/
2. Edit the .desktop file

OBSERVED RESULT
If a desktop file exists in both /usr/share/applications/ and
~/.local/share/applications/, the /usr/share/applications variant is used.

EXPECTED RESULT
User overwrites in ~/.local/share/applications/ should be preferred over
/usr/share/applications/

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Operating System: Arch Linux
KDE Plasma Version: 6.7.1

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
The only time I see the changed icon is the launch feedback. Everything else
uses the default icon.
Any launch parameters are completely ignored.
