I had grabbed the source of the email from thunderbird using a quick key action (ctrl+u ctrl+a ctrl+c ctrl+w) I think during the ctrl+w event the icon changed and I saw some kind of reload on the panel or taskbar widget and the icon of firefox dev became icon of regular firefox.
