Bug ID: 523087
Summary: Assigning keyboard shortcuts that contain Ctrl or
Shift doesn't work on German locale
Classification: Applications
Product: Koko
Version First 26.04.3
Reported In:
Platform: KDE Linux
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
Severity: normal
Priority: NOR
Component: General
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Target Milestone: ---
DESCRIPTION
When using Koko on Plasma with language set to German, assigning keyboard
shortcuts that contain Ctrl or Shift keys won't work at all. Other languages
(tested with English, French, Dutch) work fine, though.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. In Systemsettings -> Region & language, set language to German, restart
session.
2. Build Koko from master, or install Koko from nightly flatpak:
flatpak remote-add koko-nightly
https://cdn.kde.org/flatpak/koko-nightly/koko-nightly.flatpakrepo && flatpak
install koko-nightly org.kde.koko
(if Koko was already installed before, it might be necessary to reinstall it to
also pick up the respective language files.)
3. Run Koko, go to "Settings -> Keyboard Shortcuts"
4. Try to add a shortcut, e.g. for "Configure Koko..." that contains Ctrl, e.g.
Ctrl+j, click "Save"
5. Close settings, now try to open settings again with Ctrl+j
OBSERVED RESULT
* Nothing happens when pressing the shortcut.
* When opening settings again, the keyboard shortcut you just configured is
listed though.
* When closing Koko, ~/.config/kokorc will contain a line about the action you
tried to configure, but missing the actual shortcut.
* When opening Koko again and going to settings, all trace is gone from the
shortcut you configured.
SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Reproduced with:
* Koko build by kde-builder from master on KDE Linux
* Koko flatpak from koko-nightly on a fresh KDE Linux VM

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
My suspicion is that it might be related to the Ctrl and Shift key being
translated in German (Ctrl -> Strg, Shift -> Umschalt), as this doesn't seem to
be the case in other languages (in French, Dutch etc. Ctrl doesn't seem to have
a different name).
