            Bug ID: 523264
Summary: XWayland applications open on the leftmost output
instead of the output containing the mouse cursor
    Classification: Plasma
           Product: kwin
      Version First 6.7.2
       Reported In:
          Platform: Other
                OS: Linux
            Status: REPORTED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: NOR
         Component: multi-screen
          Assignee: [email protected]
          Reporter: [email protected]
  Target Milestone: ---

DESCRIPTION

On a Plasma Wayland session with multiple monitors, newly launched XWayland
applications open on the first/leftmost output in KDE's display arrangement
instead of the currently active output containing the mouse cursor.

For example, when the external monitor is positioned to the right of the
built-in display and the mouse cursor is currently on that right-hand output,
launching Minecraft or Discord still opens the application window on the
built-in display -- the leftmost output in KDE’s display arrangement.

Native KDE applications such as Dolphin and Konsole do not appear to be
affected, so this may be specific to XWayland applications.

The same applications behave as expected under GNOME Wayland: their windows
open on the output containing the mouse cursor.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Start a Plasma Wayland session with two monitors arranged side by side.
2. Move the mouse cursor onto the monitor that is not the leftmost monitor.
3. Launch an XWayland application, such as Minecraft or Discord.

OBSERVED RESULT

The application window opens on the leftmost monitor in KDE's display
arrangement, regardless of which monitor contains the mouse cursor.

EXPECTED RESULT

The application window should open on the active monitor containing the mouse
cursor, provided that the application is not explicitly restoring or requesting
a previous window position.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Operating System: CachyOS Linux
KDE Plasma Version: 6.7.2
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.27.0
Qt Version: 6.11.1
Kernel Version: 7.1.3-2-cachyos (64-bit)
Graphics Platform: Wayland
Processors: 12 × AMD Ryzen 5 5500U with Radeon Graphics
Memory: 8 GiB of RAM (6.6 GiB usable)
Graphics Processor: AMD Radeon Graphics

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Display arrangement:
- Built-in display: 1920x1080 at 125% scaling, positioned on the left
- External ENV LCD1971w display: 1368x768, positioned on the right

So far in my testing the issue is reproducible with Minecraft and Discord.
I have not reproduced it with Dolphin, KDE Settings or Konsole, which suggests
that it may affect XWayland windows rather than native Wayland windows.
