I can easily reproduce this on Plasma built from git-master following the same steps. It does seem redundant to have "Move to Trash" in the Trash folder, although it seems to act as Delete. In the Trash folder, when highlighting files and using that button, the items disappear. I did a full drive search for one of the files I had tested with and it was no longer on disk.
