It sounds like you are creating a cash (or checking) account, adding a transaction, editing that account, then finding things have changed unexpectedly. While that account might be named so it is the Brokerage account for an Investment Account, those two are linked only by name, not by any kind of reference. Those two lines for "Asset:Investments:401k Investment Cash" sound odd Are those simply cash deposit amounts into a checking (Brokerage) account? If so, this does have nothing to do with any Investment Account. Perhaps you can invoke the Show Transaction Details on the questionable transaction before and after editing the account and post those results.
